Wright Brother's National Memorial, NC

The Wright Brothers National Memorial was the second highlight in our trip to the Outer Banks. It was a fantastic tribute to the historical event of man's first flight on December, 17 1912 - even if it was for 59 seconds of 860 ft.

We spent two hours at the park visiting various sites and listening to the National Park Ranger give a 45 minute historical talk on the story of the Wright Brothers and their significant discovery and gift to man.

A replica of the Wright Brother's airplane.

A $2 million replica donated to the park with moving parts

used as an aid to tell the story.

A beautiful view from the top of the Wright Brothers Memorial hill looking down at the flat landscape used for the flight testing.

A momument marking the launch point.

End of First Flight: 12 seconds, 120 ft
