Marching Onward and Upward

This past weekend proved to be a very clear, beautiful day in Seoul. Rachel, Juan, and Ian took advantage of this blessing by going for a morning hike to Namsan. It's a recognized landspot all over Seoul because it not only serves as the location for the Seoul Tower, but also it provides the only place where you can see the entire skyline of Seoul on a clear day.

When we arrived at the top of Namsan, we enjoyed several minutes of rest and relaxation which included ice cream for Rachel and Juan, sightseeing, play-time for Ian, and some quality conversation as a family.

Though it would have been enjoyable, we really couldn't stay at the top - so we made our way back to the bottom. It took us as long on the way down as it did to get to the top; however, it wasn't the same work-out, but in any event some of us got a very, good work-out during the whole hike. Ian on the otherhand enjoyed the piggy-back ride from both dad (on the way up) and mom (on the way down).

Climbing Namsan provided many scenes of beauty and the rugged land.

It was a hike that lasted approximately 3-1/2 hours. Ian really had a good time and showed it by coming home ready for a power nap/sleep. We would have to say, though, that the bottom of the hill provided a bit of rest and rejuvenation of its own with a water fountain of cold water. We have to admit that this hike of marching onward and upward was a very good way to start off the weekend. We had so much fun we just may find ourselves doing it again very, very soon - perhaps this coming weekend, especially if the weather is just as awesome!
