Grammy comes to visit!!!

My mom, Barbara came to visitus this past week and the time flew by. She arrived Friday night and this time we didn't have to run through the airport to catch the bus back to the base. Our schedule was full of Korean adventures.

Saturday, Ian had his 6 month pictures and we got some great photos of the two of them together. Ian has been enjoying Grammy's visit and all the hugs and quality time he can get. The next visit will be Honolulu in July.

Sunday, Juan and I had Ian dedicated at the ROCK church service on base. Chaplain Walker did the dedication and it personal and was exactly what we wanted. The best part was that Ian was Mr.Cooperative.

Later in the day, we headed to Insadong, the art district. On Sundays the street is blocked off and pedestrians can walk in street without fear and look at the vendors booths. Mom was looking for a new paint brush; which she found plus some rice paper for watercolor painting. We concluded our day with a stop at a local Korean BBQ restaurant.

Monday, Juan took the day off and blessed me with some alone time with my mom. He stayed home with Ian and did the laundry and enjoyed Ian and daddy time. Mom and I went to the Flower Market at the Express Bus Terminal. In the process of getting to our subway stop a 76 year old Korean gentleman stopped us and asked if we needed assistance. We said yes and he took us to the Flower Market. I will call him Mr. Kim because we didn't get his name in the hour time we spent with him. He wanted to practice his English and asked us about the phrase" Tying our shoes" he thought it was an Idiom. Mr. Kim stayed with us until we got to our final destination and even helped mom find the Japanese paint brushes she wanted in a Wholesale office supply store. Mom was so excited and bought 5 brushes plus paper and paints. On our way back to Itaewon we shopped for a new purse for mom and some souviners. Mom found a beautifully made red purse made in Korea from eel skin and I bought a holder for my ID and credit cards. When we returned home, Juan made us Breakfast for Dinner, Gluten free pancakes, eggs, and fruits. Yum!

Tuesday, Juan had another day off, so we headed to Gate 17 and took the subway from Ichon Station to Seoul Grand Park for a visit to the Zoo. It was a perfect day to see the animals and the Orchid Exhibition. For dinner we went to Gecko's Garden to use our 50,000 won gift certificate. The food was great and the company even better.

Wednesday, Mom attended Protestant Women of the Chapel with me and got to meet some of my friends. She also found a beautiful tan mink blanket for $50 on base and a jewelry box in Itaewon for 14,000 won.

Today, we said goodbye to mom and I look forward to our visit in July.Enjoy the pictures from our week!
