This past weekend we had a great time, Juan's sister Maria, her husband, Bob, and their boys, Bryce and Tyler came to visit us in Dahlgren. The visit was a lot of fun but went way too fast.
On July 4th, They got a fantastic welcome to Virginia courtesy of a huge downpour and thunder and lightening. Rachel called it God's version of fireworks. We introduced them to one of our favorite places across the border in Maryland called Captain Billy's. Bob and Maria and the boys got a chance to enjoy King Crab legs, Blue Crab, and shrimp. Juan especially loves eating crab and focuses completely on dissecting the seafood.
On the 5th we traveled as a family to Fredericksburg, VA and explored 4 different Civil War battlefields starting with Fredericksburg (which was one of the bloodiest battles of the entire war) followed by Chancellorville, Spotsylvania, and Wilderness. Bob especially has a passion for Civil War history and the boys gained a new respect for our Nation's history. We went on several tours at Fredericksburg and Chantham Manor both key locations on the Dec 13, the day of the battle. We also introduced Maria and family to the National Park passport book which we have been steadily filling up with stamps from every park or National monument we have visited.
Overall it was a great weekend had by all but it flew by.
